Card has pretty bad tilt that probably tanked the centering subgrade and the overall eye appeal. Might have gotten a 6 or 7.

Well, he is right about one thing - of all the '84 Mattingly rookies, the Don Russ version is the best!
This seems like a good time to repeat a story I think I've told on these boards before. Years ago, I had a job interviewing candidates for employment with a very large, well-known employer. This one guy listed a job he held with a company called Leaf in Tennessee. Under "supervisor", he listed Don Ross. I paused, and then I said - "Don Ross was your supervisor?" His response: "Well, that was the name we put on all the boxes" Hand to God, true story.
