Default FS: 1904 NY Giants Type 1 Photos: McGraw and McGann

FS: 1904 NY Giants Type 1 photos. PM or email with interest.

1) 1904 Pictorial News Co Type 1 photo of John McGraw, taken at Giants spring training. Image used for McGraw's E93 and E98 cards. Comes with PSA/DNA Type 1 cert.

Condition: Crease at upper left, and close to it is a surface tear that can be seen if you bend the photo. Flat, under glass or in top loader, it pretty much disappears and presents well. The tear is something that a good photo restorer could fix. The image itself is is one of the nicest for clarity and contrast that you'll find from the period. On the reverse, the Pictorial News Co stamp can be seen when shining a light through the photo. The HD Cashman stamp belonged to a photo editor in California circa early 1900's.

Size is about 4.75" x 4.75". Note the Cert gives a slightly wider dimension side to side, so the photo seems to have been cut down a bit after being send to PSA.

All in all a rare early McGraw photo used for one of his best cards.

Price: $1500 shipped. Paypal or check.

2) 1904 mounted photo of NY Giants captain Dan McGann, taken at Boston's South End Grounds. I've had numerous McGann photos over the years and this is easily the best of them. This photo was used in Spalding's 'How To Play First Base' (1905). I have an extra copy and I'll include it with the sale of the photo.

Condition: Pencil markings and minor damage on the mount from Editorial use. Reverse is blank. The image has excellent clarity and contrast.

Size: Image is 3.25" x 3.25" and the mount is 5.75" x 7.25".

Note that this photo can't be certed as a Type 1 since it is mounted, but it definitely is a Type 1.

Price: $SOLD

Thx,
Ray
