Hi Guys:
I recently picked up some 1959 Bazooka cards that have the tab at the bottom. See a few below I am not a graded collector, but since these have the dotted lines all the way around I thought they may grade well and was thinking about submitting them. But then I read on their site: n order for PSA to actually assign a grade to any of the cards that possess visible/defined borders on all four sides, evidence of that border must be present. If the cut exceeds the visible border for the card in question, PSA will encapsulate the card as "Authentic" only. Then they go on to say: PSA suggests that, in order to achieve the highest grades, the cuts of the cards should be relatively close to the visible borders without exceeding the limit. So my questions are how much EXCEEDS the border limit? Do they tell you say example 1/64 of an inch etc. or do they leave it vague and you have to submit in order to find out? Will these cards be graded "authentic" because of this? Should I submit at all? I don't want just authentic especially with all the dotted lines and the tab on the bottom. Any insights appreciated Would appreciate if someone can "turn" the cards right side up

It seems we had this discussion recently?
In any case, I believe those cards will get number grades. What grades, hard to say without seeing the backs.

Like Fred, I don’t grade cards and have 2 of these, one with the tab and one without. Neither one has all the lines so no grade even I did, but does the tab make a difference in value or are they about the same? Thanks

Both cards have significant defects: the Dodgers logo is either scuffed or not properly printed on Snider and there appears to be quite a bit of background haze or scuffing on Drysdale. My $0.02 is that they would be more interesting to collectors of the set with the tabs intact rather than as either low grade or qualified numerical grades.
ETA: does anyone else find it ironic that if you follow the instructions ("cut on black line") PSA will "A" it?

As long as the entire black dashed border is showing around the card, it will likely get a number grade.
Here is an example: ![]() This PSA 5 still shows part of every border line despite being cut through them on both sides. And it sold for $1,900, five years ago. (Although even AUTH of this card are selling for $700 right now...) Here's a recent PSA 8 (graded maybe 2 years ago?) ![]() However, I don't think either will get above a VG-EX 4 because of the surface wear. Do they really call that small ad a tab? Was it redeemable for anything? It's not even connected to the card, really. I think it's just part of the package design, so I'm surprised PSA calls it a "tab." As to what you should do with them, play PSA's game for maximum profit. Have them laser cut just outside the black border completely evenly if possible, and leave the "tab". 1/32" of white showing on each side should be fine. I actually hand cut a Bazooka panel once and got a PSA 9 just using long scissors.
