Sen Sen Counter and 1913 Nap Lajoie game question
Hi Gang:
This is not my area of expertise. I recently picked up a Sen Sen Perpetual Counter and the bottom of the box and some blue back cards from the 1913 Nap Lajoie game. My first question is, does the counter go with the game? They came together in the same lot but I am unsure they go together. I read that there were 50 known cards that came with the game. Is there any checklist for the cards based on the backs. It looks like for the PSA registry you only need two cards, one blue back and one red back. Is anyone collecting the entire 50 known cards? I will be looking to move these once I get some info on them Thanks in advance for any info that can be supplied.

Hi Fred
I am not sure if the counter came with the game. I have seen lots of the cards over the years and don't remember a reference to the counter. That said it could be.... As for value, my gut tells me not a lot for the counter, as the ebay current auctions has a nice one for around 40 bucks...in auction now. As for the cards I have seen quite a few and they do have a little value. They tend to come in a bit better grade so I would guess yours are in the 15-20 dollar range each. .

Like Leon I have never seen the counter associated with the cards. Typically the Lajoie cards are found in nicer condition, as your cards certainly look like some kids enjoyed the actual game. I would think Leon is fairly accurate on the pricing, though these days you never know if they might just fetch more per card.
I have never heard of anyone pursuing the different fronts (the backs of the cards all have the same Lajoie photo, either in blue or red). I would assume an intact set of the cards would give you all the different fronts. I have not heard of any variations in the fronts either. In fact no one ever seems to mention the fronts at all. Many years ago I bought a group lot of these Lajoie Game cards, and when I received them I also got a note from the seller indicating (there was no mention of it in the lot description) that he had found them while dumpster diving twenty years or so prior. They were also in somewhat rough condition as well. Here is a scan of a few of them, which happen to be from the red set. Brian |

You'll have a lot of buyers from Net54 at that low price.

I am fairly certain the Sen-Sen counter did not accompany the Lajoie Game.
Cheers, Mike
