For sale, 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #144(typo in header), is an SGC- AA. Decent card, little faded on but fairly clear and back is better. Great price for a Goudey Ruth, can't find a much better deal anymore for them. Asking $4500- paypal FF, I pay shipping and will insure.
Can PM, Email or Text if interested. henry@indianasteelservices.com 765-608-7412

Any thoughts on what the alteration might be?

I wonder if fading is considered sun/light alteration by PSA.

With the inconsistency now-a-days who knows, but we had a sun-faded, recently graded 2.5 of this exact card in our November auction. So it's not actually policy. Like so much else it seems to come down to grader preference.

I believe they did mark it AA due to the sun fading. it's faded a good amount on the front, but there is still color on most of the card, it's the worst towards the bottom of the card where the red normally is. the back doesn't have any fading, just a little stain. I think if this was regraded that it could easily get a 1 with any of the graders, as the others mentioned, I believe it was marked AA due to the individual grading it, since there are some discrepancies grader to grader. If I keep I will probably end up sending it into SGC to get it back quicker and I'm 95% sure it will come back a 1, or possibly even a 1.5 depending on who grades it, though most likely a 1. Which will easily make it worth the $4500. There's that small line on the front also, but it's not a crease. Let me know if you have anymore questions, thanks
