Mascots
Growing up in central Iowa, I grew up watching the Iowa Oaks and later Iowa Cubs play. I have many fond memories at Sec Taylor Stadium.
The Cubbie Bear was their mascot. I remember hugging and getting autographs as an early teen. Cubbie was somewhat spooky looking, he had cockeyed eyes. During the flood of '93, an Iowa thing, the local ballpark was underwater. The Cubbie was hanging and unfortunately the costume was ruined. Years later, the original person that wore Cubbie listed the head for sale. As an Iowa collector I had to own it. Just wanted to share with everyone, a post on Facebook made me pull it out for a picture. His hat is still packed away. Does anyone else here have any mascot costumes?
