I recently posted a 1926-29 Exhibits card (shown below) of Lou Gehrig that someone painstakingly cut around Lou's image. I thought I would showcase a few others I have that have gotten similar treatment, but you can also share some that had the die-cut design built in, or like the Batter Up cards, had their top removed for added drama.
The E121 cards below are some of my favorite, as not only were the cut around the player's image, but they also had multiple layers cut in the same way to stand out from the 1/8" thick backing they were glued upon. And on the Bancroft card they even used the team name from an E120 card to indicate a team change. Brian |

That was a nicely trimmed Gehrig. Professional even.

The Gehrig is awesome. Love that it's a PC back too!
No fair though. Batter-Ups shouldn't count. ![]() |

I prefer hand-cut myself, but sometimes, like with the Batter Ups, you have to settle for how the machine decided to slice and dice. Brian |

Lots of great svelte cards! And being who I am, I am especially drawn to Lucky Larry's pieces of cardboard. I really admire Spook's floating head. And GGS seems like the fake grading company made especially for me...everything is GEM MINT!

I picked up this 1948 Philadelphia Bulletin Stand-Ups of Elmer Valo because I rooted for him when I was a kid after reading (on the the back of a baseball card, I think) that he was the only Major Leaguer born in Czechoslovakia. My mother's parents (my grandparents) immigrated from Czechoslovakia c.1910, and her brothers were born there.

Die cuts are common in vintage Japanese cards. Michio Nishizawa, Makoto Kuzuru, and Lefty O'Doul.

From a scrapbook I purchased 30 plus years ago. Not completely off topic did anyone else follow the E125 Clark in the last REA? Sold for like 15% of the first time an E125 Clarke was sold by REA. Again a case of a set that is too rare for its own good. I was underbidder and regret not going one more.
