My young son loves watching people opening packs of baseball and Pokemon cards on YouTube and one of his goals for the year was to do some himself as we love to do "Pack Battles" with each other with the Sports and Pokemon packs we open.
While helping him get started I thought it might be a fun to do a feature on a vintage set of cards that I collect so I did a roughly 30 minute feature on the 1911 Zeenut set as a bit of an experiment. I am not a professional at this by any stretch of the imagination nor was I working with a script, just a one take, no edits, stream of consciousness run-down of my 1911 Zeenut collection. I apologize for the length but it should be informative and at the minimum the cards are beautiful! ![]() Feel free to check out the video, I would love comments, likes, and subscribers. I actually had a lot of fun this weekend getting this up and running with my son and anticipate doing more sets in the future. If anybody has a set that they would like featured just let me know as I collect almost everything from pre-war to post-war Baseball Cards, Football, Hockey, Basketball, and also a very extensive collection of Non-Sports cards as well (N-cards, T's, E's, etc. etc). I am taking suggestions. I am NOT doing this to make any money or anything like that, I just legit love cards and am actually really missing talking cards with everybody at the National and other shows. Leon, if you have an issue with this post let me know as I don't want to overstep. Again, I would love feedback, likes and subscribers to the channel. More videos to come if you guys want more. Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it!
Obviously these videos have little production value but they are actually really fun to make! Anything that makes your hobby more fun is worthwhile. I had a moment this afternoon and made another video that covers a Post-War issue that has been on my mind lately due to the passing of Tom Seaver. The new video covers the 1967 New York Mets Postcard-sized Team Issue and features a Tom Seaver rookie card. This video is much more manageable at only about 11 minutes long. My first thought in watching the video was, "Why does he have a stack of CD's there? Who listens to CD's anymore??" Of course, it was actually the pile of slabs creeping into the shot. Oh well.
![]() Such a great collection. Love the variations. Awesome!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys!
I had quite a few requests for some other sets of cards but one kept being brought up so I did another video this afternoon describing the differences between the 1911 to 1938 Zeenut set. New Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfRq...TcvbKB&index=3 **I am also offering a free card giveaway at the end of the video. I am offering free of charge a 1929 Zeenut card of long-time Detroit Tigers player Johnny Bassler (or if you would rather have another card I can arrange that for Net54 members). All you have to do is let me know in the comments what is your favorite Zeenut set and why. Hard to beat a free card!** In the future I will do other sets and not focus so much on Zeenut cards but again quite a few people requested I break down the Zeenut sets by year. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube Channel and like the videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbE...yv5VGaRMOMqAPw

I didn't post it on the video, because I think someone else should score the 1929 Bassler card, but my favorite Zeenut set is probably 1925, not due to aesthetics or player selection (though most of the cards have crisp B/W action poses, and there are plenty of key cards within the set), but because a couple of decades ago I lucked upon about 70 from the set in above average Zeenut condition in an antique store for dirt cheap ($2 a piece), and it kick started my Zeenut collecting.
Keep the great videos coming Rhett! Brian |
