While we have often seen the term - beisbol - used as the Spanish pronunciation of baseball, this 1893 guide ( which I won in REA) may be the first printed use of the term. The guide was printed by Juan Canizares Gomez who was an American educated player who played in the pro leagues in the 1880’s. This book was printed in his home town as a way of spreading the game to the more rural areas of Cuba. In addition to being the first instructional written in Spanish ( there was an earlier book which was a translation of an 1880 American book), the guide has a glossary of terms and how to pronounce them.
