Default Celebrate Al Kaline

I saw some photos in the R.I.P. thread that were beautiful.
Let's pay homage to an all-time great player and guy.

Inspired by a fellow board member who took the time to call me and talk about Mr Kaline’s generosity. The RC is in a display case. The 62 is a green tint which I didn’t realize until I got the auto certified. Got them all through TTM even the RC - gulp. Enjoy!

Default A couple Type 1 Rookie photos- 1953 and 1954

Mr Tiger only played 30 Games in 1953; this one taken in Yankee stadium by William Jacobellis.

I also posted another Type 1 by Jacobellis on FB/image used for 1955 Topps card.

Wowzers! That photo is spectacular. I don't even have a copy of that one. Those Jacobellis proofs are so clear.
Some of my favorites in my whole collection. Thank you for sharing!

This is the earliest known photo of Kaline as a professional. Date on front is 22 June 1953 and press stamp on back is dated 23 June 1953. This was taken the day he signed with the Tigers while he was still in his sandlot uniform. He was my favorite ballplayer. He will be missed.

My only Kaline. From my childhood. Obviously not one of his most cherished cards, but I'm sure glad I kept it!! R.I.P., Captain.

That's a beautiful '54. The margins are very straight and crisp.

Thanks Phil - I got it raw and knew about a small surface wrinkle on the bottom. Definitely the nicest looking "5" in my collection.

Default Kaline

Before he wore # 6 , Al wore # 25 for a short time in 1953 after reporting to the Tigers from his High School. I like this photo, but I don't own it !

Default Al Kaline Day

One of my favorite buttons. Friends and family wore these on the field for his "Special Day" in 1970. His son's is visible as is Bowie Kuhn's.
