First off, I'm posting about Auto Racing in the Boxing & Wrestling forum b/c I did not see a forum that specified Auto Racing. I guess we could also include Horse Racing. T36 has 2 Subjects that are also found in T227...Mulford and Bruce-Brown. T227 features boxers and at least one wrestler.
I have read that this set was released in 1911, the inaugural year for the Indy 500. I've also read that all 25 drivers featured in the T36 set raced at Indy in 1911. I only found stats for Chevrolet beginning in 1915, so I can't confirm that they all ran at Indy in 1911, but it would make sense. Anyone else have cards or info? Thanks Here are a few notables. I have the basic set with mixed backs. Master set is 100 cards. 4 x 25 Hassan 30 and 649 and Mecca 30 and 649. Ralph DePalma--won 1915 Indy 500 David Bruce-Brown--3rd at Indy 500 in 1911, tragically died in 1912. Maybe toughest card in T227 set. Ralph Mulford--2nd at Indy 500 in 1911 T227 set member. Louis Chevrolet- co-founder of Chevy. Raced at Indy. Seems to be most expensive card in the set.

Here is the link to the vintage auto racing thread we have on here. It does not get much action anymore, but there is a ton of information in the thread.
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=220356 Beansballcardblog in that thread put together a complete set of T36s, and shared his progress in that thread. Barney Oldfield and Louis Chevrolet are the two most expensive cards, although prices seems to be rising for the set across the board. T36s don't stay on eBay long anymore, and even common drivers have been creeping toward $100 lately. Huggins and Scott had a full set of T36s and a nearly complete set of T37s autos recently that went for around $2,000. That just seemed like crazy money to me, considering that past complete sets of T36s have usually gone in the $500-700 range.

Looks like I was the first person to respond to that thread back in 2016. I lost track of it on the main board. I wouldn't mind if the moderators moved it to this forum so we can keep track of it.
I skimmed the thread and saw a Panini Jackie Stewart that I liked. There was a PSA 7 in Cali for $78 and a nice raw one in Italy for $4.98 shipped. I bought the Italy one. The last item I bought from Italy was a Ricardo Patrese poster that took 4 months to arrive. I sent the guy a $5 bill in the mail on a 3 dollar item and he sent me back 2 American dollar bills with the Patrese poster. I guess it sat in customs. T36 have gone way up in price since I put my basic set together. They say if it's not on eBay, it's rare, and there are none on eBay right now. Rob

The same T36s used to sit on eBay for months on end at sky high prices. Now, they are quickly snapped up whenever they appear. I have toyed with the idea of putting together a set or picking up a complete set at auction in recent years, and it amazes how much they seem to have taken off in price.
The part about all 25 drivers competing at Indy in 1911 is definitely not accurate. Oldfield was the most famous racer of the time, so much so that he was synonymous with racing itself. He only competed at Indy in 1914 and 1916. FWIW, the scoring became screwed up at the inaugural 500. For over 100 years, there have been claims that Ralph Mulford actually won the race instead of finishing second. https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/o...first-indy-500 https://simanaitissays.com/2015/02/0...y-500-victory/
