Need Help: 2003 Donruss Career Stat Line

I recently purchased a 2003 Donruss Career Stat Line card of Mike Piazza.

I understand that the Career Stat Line cards were issued as a parallel to the regular-issue Donruss set.

My question is:
How were they issued?

As a stand-alone set issued in packs or as a complete set?
As inserts in the regular-issue Donruss packs or complete set?
As inserts in another set?

Somebody please help!!!

COMC has them linked as insert parallels to the 2003 Donruss base set. If you buy a pack online, you may be able to see what the insert ratio was and whether they were retail or hobby exclusives. You can look up the complete set boxes to see what was given away in them on worthpoint or eBay sold listings.

Since every card had a different print run (based on the players career stat line), they would not have been sold in complete sets. I think you're overthinking this. Most people don't care where a $3-5 insert comes from.
