Net54 Community,
I recently picked this up because I was intrigued by its orange hued background. Is this a known Mordecai portrait printing anomaly/variation? And if so, was it due to a missed stage in the multi-stage printing process? Any information would be appreciated! Thanks! |

the "orange" portraits seem to have waned in popularity. They used to command a nice premium. That said the color on yours seems borderline. The oranges that seemed popular were drastically different than the reds. Just my 2¢

Hi Eric,
Nice Modecai. To me, looks like yours missed the cyan pass, thus resulting in the orange background. I think they are cool and your seems to have a nice orange background. They aren't rare, but they aren't plentiful and don't pop up frequently either. It's a keeper for sure. Here's my Cobb for comparison. Similar backgrounds. |

Nice looking card Eric but as far as the missing color in my opinion it has the look of a card that could have been soaked
from an album and that can effect the color. I don't think the TPG's will grade any of the missing reds anymore because it's hard to tell if they're actually missing red or if it was the result of a clean soak. Here's a nice article that a board member did on his site about missing red cards. http://www.thatt206life.com/2016/12/...ed-t206-cards/ Last edited by Pat R; 12-13-2018 at 04:31 PM. |

Would have to imagine that would command an amazing premium in today's hot Cobb market.

Reviving an OLD THREAD - if that is OK!
I only skimmed this thread originally because I didn't THINK that I had one... ...until I discovered that I did... I just replaced my T206 Murray - Batting with one that has a Polar Bear back and realized that I had an "Orange Background" one. Are these carrying any sort of Premium? I AM willing to sell (or auction?) this on NET54, but I don't want to give it away. What is a reasonable "ASK"? If anyone would care to PM me with an Offer, I would consider it, too! You will receive ONLY the ORANGE-BACKED card with the Piedmont reverse. Any interest out there??? Thank you in advance - AS ALWAYS! |
