Looking to a buy an Ethan Allen All Star Board Game. Game can be missing a few pieces, but box condition is a primary concern. MUST be a version of the game that features Allen's name on the box.

I have one of the "Ethan Allen" games, Dave, but have never thought about selling it. What are they worth?

They're plentiful and frequent on eBay. As with almost everything, price depends largely on completeness and condition
(and older ASB games are often missing player disks or include many more than were originally provided), but with games produced in multiple (annual, in the case of ASB, APBA, Strat-O-Matic, &c') editions and variations, price varies widely depending on which year's edition. Dave will be looking for a pre-1956 edition (but probably not '54, although box lids often feature with the previous or following year's edition). In addition to eBay, Dave, you might want to check out the ASB discussion group at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/...eballGame/info -- longtime fans there occasionally have vintage editions for sale at very reasonable prices. Gary, which year's edition do you have? The copyright date is not an accurate indicator, as it was retained until the box design was again changed. If you're unsure, just list the pitcher disks from your game and we'll tell you what year it's from.

Thanks for the info, Butch. The copyright date is 1952. The box has Ethan Allen with a red background. It is a " Special Edition " version with 63 position player discs and 16 pitcher discs. I assume I'm missing one position player disc. The players are old timers and current stars. The "current" pitchers are Pierce, Erskine, Lopat, Parnell, Staley, Roberts, Spahn, and Porterfield. Based on the pitchers, I would say 1952-1955?

Hi Gary, what you have is the 1954 Special Edition. The SE sets are generally in higher demand among collectors,
so if the box and disks are both in nice condition, and you put it up for sale or auction, you could probably count on $150.-$200. minimum and possibly a lot more. Prices are all over the map for vintage ASB, but we're confident in that conservative estimate for the rarely-seen '54 SE. It does hurt, but only a tiny bit, that you're one disk short of a complete set. You do have all the pitchers. Porterfield, Staley, and outfielders Baumholtz and Delsing are unique to the '54 standard and Special editions. If you put it up on eBay or elsewhere on-line, do consider signing in and announcing that sale at the ASB forum we mentioned above -- some very avid collectors there among that friendly community of dedicated ASB gamers. Oh, just so we're not contradicting ourselves -- Allen's name doesn't appear on the 1954 standard edition box, but does on the red-box Special Edition.

Thanks for educating me on my game, Butch. I got it a number of years ago with a bunch of other stuff and never really researched it.

Great discussion. Like most things related to sports memorabilia, completeness matters. For me this is not a great concern as the box and name are key to what I am doing. Allen is a Cincinnati native, UC grad, former Red and pioneer with respect to gaming concepts. Just looking for a nice box and somewhat complete game to add to small grouping of artifacts I am building for donation to the Reds HoF.

After learning more about the game, I think I'll keep the one I have. It does display well.

I have found a copy of the game that meets my purpose. Thanks for the posts and to those that emailed me with options.
