What is the only non-expansion franchise to have never had on it's roster, any pitcher who amassed at least 300 wins or 3,000 strikeouts? The pitcher only had to appear in one game for the team, to count as being on that team's roster.
This includes any current franchise's past cities and/or nicknames. Steve

![]() Any post-WWII expansion. Again, I'm only ruling out brand new expansion franchises since WWII. Any team that changed cities, or changed their names, is considered non-expansion. Steve

It took a while as I was down to one of two teams. Couldn’t for the life of think of any pitcher in either category that ever played on either then it dawned on me that someone with more than 3000 strikeouts started on one as a rookie before moving on to other more renouned teams and glory.
Great question though. I’ll give a bit more time publicly before I say which team I think it is but I think I’ll PM you to see if I’m right before checking Google out. Drew

Detroit Tigers?

![]() Correct. Jim Bunning has the most strikeouts at 2,855, and Jack Morris has the most wins at 254. Edited to add: The Marlins, Rays and Rockies are the only other teams to have never had any of the pitchers who won 300 games and/or struck out at least 3,000 batters, on their roster at any time. The Tigers drafted John Smoltz, but infamously traded him to the Braves for Doyle Alexander before he ever made it up to the majors. Steve

![]() Schilling did start with the Orioles, but another pitcher who counts for the Orioles franchise, is Eddie Plank, as he played 2 seasons with the St Louis Browns in 1916 and 1917. The Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles in 1954. Steve

Great trivia. Barring injuries they should have two in this club in the next 4 years. Verlander in 3.
