![]() ![]() ![]() Had a pretty good day antiquing today...Picked up this photo of Willie Mays in a clothing store...gigantic and period...Certainly one of the most candid and striking off field photos of Mays I've seen...I'd like the photo even if Mays weren't in it... Also picked up another giant piece in the same store...A double sided cloth horseracing banner...Couldn't miss it hanging from the ceiling...It's stamped Paramount Flag Co. San Francisco...Without fully researching yet my guess is it came out of a S.F. Bay area race track...art work looks late 1930's - early 40's...The store did a poor job of displaying it as the sides are tiered and the whole banner will really pop when fully stretched out... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

A now defunct SFO area hoss track was Bay Meadows. It was in operation when WM played for SFO Giants. Think it was in San Mateo.

I love both of those, Carlton! Attached is the label from a Giants banner I've photo matched to Opening Day 1960. Can you post a pic of the label on your horse track banner? I have an old ebay contact who used to work at Paramount and could probably help with dating yours.
Then again...knowing you....you'll probably find ironclad documentation on your own. ![]()

Not really sure that is Willie. The thing that makes me question it is that he is smiling.
JK of course, it's an awesome image.

It looks like Harold Reynolds took a time machine back to the 50's to sell clothing.
