Joe/Vince Dimaggio Oakland photo

Just picked up this Joe Dimaggio and Im having a hard time dating it based on the uniform. I know the PCL had a team called the Oakland Oaks but these uniforms dont match the examples i found. Also note Joe is wearing his yankees cap. He looks pretty young in this photo. If anyone has any info on it id greatly appreciate it

I know Vince Dimaggio played for the Oaks in 1947. Hope that helps.

Ya i was reading about that but Joe looks alot younger in this photo which makes me think its 1930's but i could be wrong

That style of Oakland Oaks uniform does not support the image as having been taken in the 1930s. The PCL was fairly well chronicled so I think with some digging, you will be able to find what you are looking for.

Likely Alameda Elks Charity game (or another off season game). Event was played at Emeryville (where photo was taken) and many of the Major Leaguers that lived in the Bay Area would participate in these charity games, back when players did that kind of stuff. LIkely post war in the 40's. The Alameda Elks games continued into the 50's
