Hello everyone I am new to the baseball card collecting arena. I am taking a back by the prices on vintage Hall of Fame baseball cards. A lot are not affordable to me. With that being said I wonder if collecting low and graded Hall of Fame nine rookie year pre-1970 baseball cards in the $50-$100 range will appreciate overtime or at least maintain their current value. I recently read a post by Bob Evans talking about fake cards for 150 K sold on the Internet this is very scary to me as I'm sure to you as well it makes me hold back on one team to be a collector let me know your thoughts please.

Welcome to the board! We have another section for postwar era baseball cards; you should check it out.
To answer your question, if you are investing, then relatively common 50s and 60s cards in low grade will not likely bring you many future dividends. But if you're a collector, and you like those cards, then buy them. Just don't expect any ROI. Last edited by 4815162342; 05-20-2016 at 05:42 AM. |

I'm starting to dip into the post war cards after watching the Mantles jump through the roof. I'm leaning towards saving for a graded 7 than buying the bargain 3 to 4 because while I'm a collector I recognize that it's the higher grade cards that will prove the most valuable in the long run.
