Default E 98 color variations. Are any colors more difficult for certain players.

This may have been discussed before but curious if any background colors in the E98 set are more difficult, scarce or desirable than others. Here is a picture of an orange background E 98 Cobb we have and was wondering if this is a more common color or more scarce color.

Default E98's

Beautiful card, and a scarcer color for sure, especially in that condition. I've seen a few orange Cobb's pop up recently in low grades. We have discussed this before, and no doubt there are tougher player/color combos. For Cobb, the green is the rarest imo, followed by blue, orange and red. The blues, in which none were found in the Black Swamp Find, are the rarest and most condition sensitive of all the colors generally speaking. Some thought the red's could have been before the BSF. But, now the reds, followed by the greens are found most often. There were only two orange players found in the BSF, Miner Brown and Bridwell. So, like the blues, the orange backs will be more challenging to find, and in good condition. I can write a book on each player and their difficulty, but I'll let a few others chime in like Tim Kindler, who most recently put together a Master Set.

I was recently interested in this very topic. For what it's worth, the PSA pop report breaks out by color. Unfortunately, the SGC does not. But based on the more limited PSA sample, it would appear green, blue, and orange are equally scarce with red being the most common because of the BSF. Again, if SGC broke out color, this could sway the data.
