Underwood photos, or something else?
Anyone have a firm idea what these photos are?
Recent Ebay pickup. The seller said she got them in a lot of Underwood & Underwood and American Press Assoc. photos. The photos are each 14" x 17", silver gelatin, printed on what must be double weight paper. The clarity seems good for the size, but I'm not sure if they're type 1, etc. As seen, the captions on the back are huge. There are no stamps or other markings anywhere on the backs. I'm fairly certain I've seen other large WW1-era U&U photos with this same kind of reverse glued on caption. As for dates of the actual images---Bender batting at Hilltop Park should be 1911 given the uniforms and the presence of the armory behind the scoreboard.
