Default Wow! Wagner with a Sovereign back has been found!

The seller's ebay "handle" says it all!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONUS-WAGNER...tem4ae580554e#

Happy Tuesday to all!

Instead of getting "the exact card in the exact case", could I get a different card please? Anything but that one will do.

He sells cards like he sells guitars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Guitar-not-s...item4ae5506108

I do like his user name, it describes them perfectly. I did notice we have a member with "con" and "scum" in their user name.

Default A least it's protected!

At least he is protecting his half a million dollar investment. I know if I had a baseball card that was worth that kind of money, I would take it outside on my deck in subzero temperatures where it might fall off into the snow to take pictures of it.

And it's up to $54.

He acknowledges that it's a reprint, but he also scratched the word reprint off the back.

Looks like the card is re-listed again, with some creative wording added! On a side note, is that a McGraw in the box (third pic) that is laying on the deck railing?

Here is the new listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WAGNER-PITTS...4#ht_348wt_900

Yeah, it does look like McGraw. It's probably going through it's aging/distress treatment.

What is the "crazy story" on how the card was found? Why is shipping $1k? And why do I get the feeling that the user ID says it all?

I know we see these all the time and the sellers always use weasel language like "you be the judge", but may I offer the following sample from New Jersey's Criminal Code, which probably has parallels in other states

NJSA 2C:21-2 Criminal Simulation. A person commits a crime of the fourth degree if, with purpose to defraud anyone or with knowledge that he is facilitating a fraud to be perpetrated by anyone, he makes, alters or utters any object so that it appears to have value because of antiquity, rarity, source, or authorship which it does not possess.

That's 9-18 months jail as a max penalty.

Just putting it out there.

He's at it again...still trying to unload it. Notice how he is using "Fake Wagner" characteristics to prove it is not fake.

Charging $1,000 for shipping ought to be a jailable offense as well.

He also referred to "brands that produced Wagner", but his link refers to brands that produced T206s. Of course Sovereign is mentioned, but not in connection with a Wagner.
