Default D322 ... Anyone go for these?

Hello,

I am thinking about dabbling into this set...

Has anyone here collected the D322's?

My main question is how are these cards from an investment perspective ?
Any trouble moving them? Are they difficult to sell because its a rather obscure, regional issue ?

I buy cards I like but I want to be able to sell them on a rainy day and not take a beating.....

Any insight is appreciated as always,

Frank

It's a doable set. And as long as you didn't buy them about 10 yrs ago, as their prices were much higher, you should be fine on recouping monies when you go to sell. As long as you do research on your acquisitions I think you will be fine moving them if you need to. It's a beautiful set....

I agree with Leon, it's a great looking set and one that i've considered trying. The Wagner and Dreyfuss can be quite pricey, but the rest seem quite reasonable. As far as recouping what you pay, just remember the set is not so rare that you have to buy every card you see. As with most sets, as long as you are patient and buy at the right price, recouping your costs is a lot easier.

This set is like e90-2...and in my opinion...the Wagner is the only card to have...unless you are a big pirates fan...completing the set will not be terribly exciting.

I've collected all but 3 of the cards in the set as I'm a fan of the 1909 Pirates. The Wagner will cost you a good chunk and I don't see too many Dreyfuss cards come up. I think it's a good time to buy as their prices are very reasonable in low to mid grade. Personally, I love this set.

I like them. The mascot and the stadium seem overpriced to me, but the Pirates themselves have great cards.

If you are looking for a set that would be quick to re-sell if you had to, I think this is not the set for that. I started looking at this set about a year ago, bought two, and quit buying because it seemed like no one else was interested, which made me wonder. I still see some of the same cards for sale that were available a year ago (on e-bay). Maybe these are just overpriced, but I will say many of them have been there a long time, I don't see a lot of buyers if you turn seller. When I bought mine, one was on it's fourth listing, and was marked down 60%. The other is a beater Forbes Field that I bought for $40 as a place holder. I really do like the set, but from a pure investment perspective, I think these would be slow to turn around. Just my perspective, I think others have more experience than I.

I agree...and another similarity with e90-2...once I completed the set, selling the wagner was easy...but selling the rest of the set resulted in a loss!

Their popularity has definitely waned in the last 7-8 years.

Default D322

I wanted one to add to my Pirates collection, and bought one (Paddy O'Connor) from Leon a few years back. Not really interested in the set.

I love the set. I recently sold a Ham Hyatt after owning it for a while. It sold for little effort for a minimal profit. I do think it is less popular than it was to years ago or so but still a really cool set I think. I may be a little biased though...
