Baseball Card Magazine
I have several panels in which the cards are in the format of the Topps 1959 set.

If you can find a copy of the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards from 2011 or earlier, all of the Krause "magazine" cards are listed.
Besides those in Baseball Cards magazine, we had them in SCD Price Guide and a few of the one-shot magazines. Almost all were in vintage formats. The cards are a tribute to the graphic artists at Krause back in the day before computers became common for that type of work. Most of the card backs were written by Kit Kiefer, who was editor of the magazines. At one time I had 100 each of the uncut panels saved, but tossed most of them in the recycling 10+ years ago.

I have 50-60 of the magazines in boxes somewhere with all the cards.
They are very nice collectibles, especially for player collectors. |

Newbie here, but I remember these! The Mark Grace in 1969 Topps style particularly, it was better than most of his regular issues.

I have all my old price guides, back to 1975. It's funny, I buy and sell cards with no concern but keep all my old guides....weird.

I have all my BBC Magazines from '80s-early '90s....with the cards intact. Also have the "price guide" mags w/cards.....full runs for several years....all in totes and in the storage. Hope they're not ruined. Been there for years....even bought multiple copies of some depending on the cards or who was on cover .....

Definitely one of my favorite card magazines. I want to say it eventually turned into SportsCards. I have the first 100 or so run of issues with cards, when they were issued, and lots of singles and panels from buys and trades. I liked them as well.

Yes, From Baseball Cards to Baseball Cards + to Sports Cards Magazine. I still miss going to the store looking for the latest issue.

Thanks for the welcome, ALR-bishop. I am a Filipino based in Singapore, so baseball cards are unavailable locally. I have a few Bowmans from 1950, 51, 52 and 54, bought from Ebay. Guess they will do for now . I was introduced to them years ago by a Baseball Cards Mag article featuring 1954 Bowmans, with the author recalling neon green grass on Turk Lown's card, haha. Will feature them on my intro post (apologies to the op for seemingly hijacking this one).

I love to use them for ttm auto items. They are great cards. Thin stock though.

I love that it added a card to my Tuffy Rhodes collection.
Tuffy wasn't all that highly touted as a prospect, and came along when the Astros seemed to be overloaded with AAA-level guys trying to make the next step, so he wasn't included in many rookies or prospects type sets. Disappointingly, even though Hensley Meulens rated a full two-page spread in a 1988 issue, he never got a card in the magazine. Last edited by DaClyde; 02-07-2015 at 09:06 AM. |

Ah yes, Karl "Tuffy" Rhodes.
For 1 week in April 1994 he was the toast of the world, hitting 3 home runs on opening day, putting him on a pace to hit 450. He only hit 8 that year and 13 for his career. I think Upper Deck got a better twosome to join him though..... http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...hodeka01.shtml |

One of the inserts had the 1971 look. I like the black borders.

They were nice cards. I believe I have a few Yankees in my collection, such as Mattingly done like a 1957 card.
