When I was a kid, I used to mail letters to current and former players asking for autographs, with mixed results. Now (25 years later) I'm thinking about doing this again. Can anyone recommend any good resources for mailing lists or provide any advice on how to do this? I've heard that Smalling's book and Harvey's list are both good...any thoughts? I would really appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks! |

Yes, the Sports Card Forum website has the "TTM Manager" page (you'll see the tab at the top of the homepage), and within there you will find a wealth of addresses to use for mailing purposes and the success rate users have gotten from each one. It's free, easy to use, and a great resource for getting your feet wet again in the mailing hobby. I've heard great things about Harvey's books as well, but haven't invested in them yet.

Sportscollectors.net or as the other person stated Harvey Meiselman (sp?) out of Florida for his sport specific lists. Both are very well, but sportscollectors.net is updated with successes or failures at specific addresses. It was always fun to get the mail back in the day. Jason

Not trying to hijack the thread, but out of curiosity, is there an equivalent website(s) for non-sports personalities?

Not sure if you're looking for current players, but back in the old days (70's) I used to grab an almanac from the library to get the addresses of the stadiums. Then I'd send a letter there in care of the player. I don't know if they have almanacs (or libraries

Thanks for all the replies! Stan Musial's death made me realize that I wanted to start doing this again...so wish me luck!
