I bought and sold this ball to the now consignor of it. The story of it being found with a signed Joe Jackson ball and signed 1909 World Series ball are BS. I found this ball on Ebay, talked with the seller himself over several emails, he didn't have these other balls. I bought this one on Ebay from him, then sold it a couple months later on Ebay to the now consignor of it. Someone made up that attic story, consignor or Heritage? Neat ball but no need for the fluff/lies. Also, the consignor has been mentioned on here b4 not sure if he is a reader, but I'd sure like to see these other balls "if" they are out there. I have not seen any recent new signed Joe Jackson balls come to any auction house. |

That's crazy -- I would get rid of the word fluff and just stick with the word lies.
Just curious -- did it really come from Cambridge? Greg |

Interesting! You know the facts and now everyone who reads this thread does as well. My guess would be that this story was told to Heritage by the consigner but who knows. I'm sure they would just blame each other if it came down to it.

Agreed.. I do not believe Heritage would make up a story like this at all. If auction houses go by and post stories on the word of consigners, these things will continue to happen. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who poop from their mouths in this hobby.

Just as a refresher, here was the previous thread on this ball:
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=161870 Interesting also that Heritage makes a point of noting that the stitching is black and red as would be appropriate for an official NL ball, but as Paul verified previously, it definitely appears to have blue and red stitching. I guess that still doesn't rule out the exhibition game possibility though.

I remember the seller listing all 4 balls, the next best one was signed I believe by some Cincy Reds, but no Jackson or Cobb or Wagner.
All 4 went for under $200. I re-sold the one for $1,000.....be interesting to see what this brings....luckily the majority of the story of the ball is true....just the BS at the end which has nothing to do with it peaked my interest. |

Heritage has some other "stories" for other auctions listed. Most likely told by the consignor.
