Default Rarity of T205 Drum Backs

I'm just starting to collect different T205 backs. Are the Drum backs exceedingly rare? There is only 1 on eBay now and its a SGC 10 common and the guy is asking almost $1,300.

The Hindus are more rare. The Drums are more expensive. To the best of my knowledge here is the only Hindu hall of famer and the highest graded Drum hall of famer....excuse the Cobby...and of course I have shown this many times but it fits here too....(if you see a Hindu, nab it...it could be years between seeing the next one)

Then why would the Drums be more expensive? T206 perception carryover?

Leon- is absolutely correct. T205 Drums are rarer than T206 Drums but T205 Hindus are even tougher. Not everyone agreed with this 20 years ago but most T205 afficiandos now agree Hindus are scarce as hen's teeth, even though Drums seem to sell for more.....

part of the pricing equation is the fact that although there are more T205 Drum's now known/and or available a large number of them are either from the group that had the tops trimmed off or the group that were AUT's due to altering or such. Problem free Drum's are still very difficult to come by. Yet, the Hindu back is still scarcer, but perhaps not as colorful, another reason for lower popularity.

Drums also were rarer for a long time but several finds in the last two decades have made them more plentiful. Combine that with the t206 perception described above and you have higher prices.

Default Here are a few

Used the el cheapo scanner for these, it does not like SGC slabs. but gives you an idea.

For a shameless plug we also have a T205 Drum back in our auction ending tomorrow night.

just an FYI - since the question was regarding t205 backs - there is also a more rare back than the drum and the hindu, there is a blank back as well
