Anonymous Works, a folk-art blog I love to look at, had an interesting post today about faux/fake/fantasy 19th century watercolor pieces that have been showing up, in genuine period frames and backed with old paper. Not a lot of information about them, but a couple good examples (glaringly fake! but kind of beautiful). I can imagine believing in the Cap Anson, if I really wanted to believe.
Anyone seen these on ebay or out in the world? |
