I have a 1956 Topps set in PSA 8 and about 60% of the 1st series cards are gray backs including virtually every star card. Is there any type of premium to the gray backs at all? Any help appreciated.

Cards 1 to 180 come with either gray or white backs. In cards 1 to 100 gray backs are less common and are worth about 10% more. In the 101 to 180 sequence white backs are less common and are worth about 30% more.

Thank you . I actually read that also in the Beckett annual. I was wondering if that holds true to form in the real market.

I have both variations of all 180 cards (we don't need to discuss that some of the team cards have 5 variations) and found that the white backs are harder to find from 101-180 and nice condition cards will often go for well more than 30% above the greys. Double, triple, even quadruple prices are not unheard of.

Doug---I have the 3 front variation of the team cards, but did not do the backs. You must be obsessive or something
