H801-7 Old Mill cabinets....Burdick sort of missed the mark on the ACC # on them. In vg'ish they go for 3k-4k on average.....(the quarter would be extra)

Thank you, Leon!
A gentleman came to me with a collection of 100 cards or so, that he's looking to sell, and these really stood out. I don't know the story behind the collection just yet, but there are these 2, 7 T3's, and then a bunch of T205 and T206 (with at least 4 or 5 P460 F42's). Expect to see more on this soon. Cheers |

Oh, a couple of T209-2 (Shaughnessy and Clark) and a T216 Kotton Bender too.

Just got the story by email:
"Back in the late 80's my dad who was a surveyor was doing some work for a guy on an estate. The man who died was in his late 90's and only had power put in his home about 5 years before he died. Every one assumed the man was dirt poor, he was also a hoarder, with magazines stacked to the ceiling in several rooms in his old two story home. When the man who inherited the estate (his nephew I believe) went to clean the house out he found these cards. He knew I was a collector and offered them to my dad. He said let me let my son look at the cards and tell you what they are worth, I did and when my dad told him he said he didn't care just give him ______. He then told my dad he had found old stock certificates and cash hidden all over the house and the value was already in excess of 5 million dollars so the cards should go to someone who would appreciate them. Thats how I ended up with them." I just started organizing all of the scans and there are more T206 P460 Factory 42's than I thought too! Cobb Red Leach Hands on Knees Wiltse Portrait Cap McQuillan Batting Murphy Batting Willis Holding Bat Wagner Bat Right Shoulder Willets Chase Trophy Joss Pitching Jennings Hands in Air Condition is all over the place with these, from P to EX. Updates coming as I have them... |

Cheers, guys!
He said he has "a lot of 30's through 70's stuff too". I told him that most of the collectors I know might go for any 30's and 40's cards in addition to the T's he's already sent scans of, so we'll see what happens. |

Great story. This, IMO, is what collecting is all about.
I hope you're able to uncover more to this story and will keep everybody updated. This is the reason why I can never be totally detached from the hobby and will forever keep net54 on my google reader. |

I too have been in Florida (Orlando Area) my whole life and even owned a card store for 12 years and never once had a pre-war "find" like this.

Great Old Mill Cab's ! These type of finds seem to come up less and less, but it is so good to hear the story when one does... I wonder how mature the "find" market really is ?
Trae - Keep the updates coming ! JJ

I still say there are a ton of finds waiting to happen. I think for the next 25 yrs or so (arbitrary number) there will be a fair amount of finds every year. Of course each year there will be a few less but still... My feeling has always been there is more than we think there is, of these types of situations.

I've got a friend who has done hundreds of estate sales, but he's never come up with anything like that! Great find--pumps lots of energy and excitement into the hobby amongst veteran collectors!
Best wishes, Larry |

Thanks, everyone!
Here's my latest update - got to see everything in-person today, we're packing most of it up for grading, and some of the "worst" raw stuff is in the B/S/T. I've been contacted privately for a few items, but I'll be posting everything else leftover for sale when it comes back from SGC and PSA. ![]() Last edited by T206.org; 08-14-2011 at 12:59 PM. |

Are the Old Mill cabs going to be auctioned or sold privately? |

Thanks, Craig.
Those are likely going to be solid privately to the highest offer. A few have already expressed interest. Please email me (link in signature) privately and I'll add you to the list of people I'll contact when they're back from SGC. |
