authentic vintage baseballs and bats

I'm thinking of trying to find an authentic vintage baseball and or bat to decorate a vintage baseball themed study. I'm a complete novice in this area. Is there somewhere I could find something like this and be assured it's authentic? Also, how much would something like these cost from various eras pre and post war? The price may get out of hand for me for something authentic anyway, so I may have to go with vintage replicas to save money, but I thought I'd check to see if I could get something authentic first. Any help would be greatly appreicated. Thanks.
