Default Zee-Nut players also in T206

Let's have a thread about cards that depict players who are both in Zee-Nuts and in T206, the white border tobacco set.

I'll start it out with Del Howard.

Please try to post both the Zee-Nut, and the T206, side by side. Hold off for a bit if you only have a singleton.

Del Howard played for the Cubs, he's depicted in T206 with the Cubs. 1909 was his last year, yet this is a series 350 Piedmont card. He appeared at first base in 59 games in 1909, and pinch hit in 12 more. In 1910 and 1911 he played and managed the Louisville Colonels. In 1912 he'd made it to the Pacific Coast League, playing and managing first for the Seals, then later the Oaks. He managed the Oaks 1916 through 1922. His brother Ivan succeeded him as Oaks manager for 1923. I don't know if he stayed around as a coach or not. This is a 1923 Zee-Nut of him.

There are several other players who are in both, I have at least one more pair, I'll hold off and give someone else a chance.

"Sleepy Bill" Burns.

His testimony during the BlackSox mess...

"I told them I had the hundred thousand dollars to handle the throwing of the World Series. I also told them that I had the names of the men who were going to finance it. I told them they were waiting below."

Now someone out there has Bill Abstein's ZeeNut and T206... and there are some other players....

Hey Brian, right you are!

I have Leifield's ZeeNut. I dug around a bit for the pitching Leifield T206, but didn't find one. Will look some more. Might try to buy one. I'm pretty sure the Leifield in T206 with the hands over head, as if pitching, is Lefty... the batting card has me wondering from time to time if it is really his brother.

Also,

Frank Arellanes and Art Fromme will be in both the ZeeNuts and T206.

And Steve, that's unbelievable... I'd think odds are pretty high that if a fellow only had one, it would the a T206 of Chance, not that elusive ZeeNut.

Jim, I'm still waiting for the green light on Abbott and Malarkey. If you post their T206s I will post their Zeenuts.

Alright, then. Let's unleash the singletons!!!

And I think there are more pairs than we've listed... maybe one or two more. Maybe in a week or so we can try this with 1933 Goudeys.

Fred Abbott
Bill Abstein
Frank Arellanes
Frank Chance
Art Fromme
Harry Krause
Lefty Liefield
Bill Malarkey
Dots Miller
Billy Purtell

Default Golden (au) pairs

Here are a few more Z to T pairs:

Sam Crawford - 1920/1921 Zeenut

Gaavy Cravath - 1921 Zeenut

Jack Quinn - 1916/1917 Zeenut (a potential seque into that future Z to G thread...he is in the 1933 Goudey set as well)

We have a "triple play" with Quinn......T206 to Zeenut to 1933 Goudey cards.

Hey Steve M

Your welcome to use this pix of Overall, as it very closely matches the pose in your Zeenut.
Are ther anymore matching poses between T206's and Zeenut's ?

Izzy Hoffman would be in both T206 and ZeeNuts, I think. I had a Home Run Kisses of him at one time, sold it in the BST. And there may well be one or two more players who're in both.

I also want to say thanks to you Rhett-your posts are great-full of information and very positive-always worth the read. It was my pleasure meeting you in Cleveland. Hope to see you in Baltimore--JR

Outstanding, Rhett.

I don't recall ever seeing such a list or comparison. Thanks.

Me thinks we're almost ready for a "ZeeNut players in Goudey" thread...

You have a serious bunch of ZeeNuts, there, Rhett. I'm impressed. If I didn't know better I'd think you were born in 1900 in the Bay area, you became a flipping expert beating all of the kids out of their cards years ago, and you are on a 3rd set of dentures from chewing on ZeeNuts, Rough-Necks, and Home Run Kisses.
