There are 4 error or variation cards in these sets where the photos were flip flopped, both sets list the error and the correct photos however I have never seen the corrected versions of any of these cards on either back. So if you have the correct one or both could you show them.
76 Hugh High White socks-Wrong photo Black socks-Correct 121 Ray Morgan Bat on Right Shoulder-Correct Bat on Left Shoulder-Wrong 90 Joe Judge Bat on Right Shoulder-Wrong Bat on Left Shoulder-Correct 190 Claude Williams White socks-Correct photo Black socks-Wrong 146 Reb Russell There is a pitching photo and a hands at side photo, but since the incorrect photo is on Mellie Wolfgang and he didn't make the set there is just the one single. I have heard that perhaps the corrected versions were not made in the Boston Store set, but SGC has both of all the cards except the Williams. That being said I am not sure the population report is correct on these as if they were done early or someone didn't note which version they could have slipped by with ease. I don't have acess to the PSA pops but I would expect to see the same type of numbers if not less. Anyway just something that has bugged me as I keep seeing the error versions of these cards and not the correct ones. James G |

The only one I have is the Ray Morgan (incorrectly showing Joe Judge) with a Collins-McCarthy back.
Here is also a Holsum Ray Morgan and a Keating Candy Co. (W575-1) of Judge to show the two photos. -Rhett

I find the #14 Ivy Wingo Maple Crispette card sort of strange. Reason being
I've have never seen the variation (last name only), after viewing over 30 Wingo's with full name only ( Ivy Wingo). I'm starting to believe the variation does not exists.. That being said I hope someone proves me wrong. I would love to see the Maple variation. If you or if you know anyone who has one (variation) lmk. Maybe Eric Eichelkraut might chime in, another Maple collector with knowledge whom I respect. |

I got an email from Eric regarding the variation a while back.
It seems the bold print full name Ivy Wingo is a variation and the last name variation Wingo has never been viewed, at least not by Eric. Could this be the variation; Bold print variation mentioned but mistakenly misprinted by SCBC? I have a strange feeling it’s the real variation!!! I've never seen another bold print wingo. Would anyone like to confirm or dispute this claim? ![]() ![]() Sorry for all the maple talk, I'm sure some of you are sick of hearing about my maples. I just love the set. ![]() Last edited by V117collector; 10-04-2009 at 10:36 PM. |

Seems like maybe it was the printing machine adding too much color. If his name was printed in a different color or spelled different, that would be a variation.
