Default WTB - N172 Old Judge... beaters!

I'm hoping to pick up a few really beat up Old Judges.

Trimmed, skinned, whatever is fine... as long as the price is cheap!

Thanks!

How about a Pud Galvin, "AUTHENTIC; ALTERED?" PSA lists a Galvin in Poor (1) condition at $210.

Would you pay $100 for this?

Default still looking....

I thank everyone that has emailed me, i've been able to pick up quite a few for my collection.

However I'm still looking for more, any that are trimmed or skinned is fine as long as they have a beater price attached!

So let me get this straight. According to your auction write up the last SGC Galvin to sell on Ebay (on June 3) sold for $1800, and your trimmed one is a superior card. Yet, after June 10 you bought this very card, from someone who responded to this ad, for $100, and then you decided to turn it around (to help you acquire other Old Judge cards) by offering it on Ebay for $2000. When I asked you about it you ended the auction and now it is with PSA being reholdered. Do I have this right?

Wow, a 1,900% mark-up, good luck with that.

Why are you sending it in?, to change label from "CALVIN" to "GALVIN"?

Joe thats correct... its having the label corrected because its in the PSA database incorrectly.

In its current state, it can't be added to the PSA registry because PSA doesn't recognize it as Galvin.

In terms of the markup... why does everyone care? Quite frankly maybe I have no interest in selling these few cards, but it helps draw attention to all my other auctions each week that I run...

Default Jerry!

I can sort of see Kramer (from Seinfeld) doing this....Or maybe George? But I think some really attractive woman (who would never really be seen with guys who looked like George or Kramer in real life) would have been involved somewhere along the line.....

Default Hello, Newman!

Brian:

You left out Newman. And for that matter, Frank Costanza. They all had their moments.

Eric:

So, if you're flipping the Galvin, one can assume you have him already. So, what Old Judges are you wanting?

My comments weren't so much directed at the markups; once you own something you can offer it at whatever price you want. If you find someone foolish enough to pay these prices, more power to you. My confusion related to me thinking that you indicated that you wanted these cards for your collection. Unless your collection is one of Ebay listings, it doesn't appear that these items were meant for your card collection. What have I missed?

Oh i still need a lot... I have the following

32% PSA graded
29% raw skinned/trimmed

and I have about 4% more currently at PSA being graded. obviously i'll still need to buy the 29% that i have raw since my goal is to have them all graded and PSA won't grade these.

i'm always open to buying duplicates that are raw skimmed/trimmed to use as trade material. many that I've met through net54 won't sell OJs but are willing to trade them.

That's a rather impressive collection for someone who sold everything off not too long ago.

What tough players have you managed to pick up or do you still need?

Well I didn't sell everything off... I was going to because I needed cash badly at that moment. However I stopped selling once I raised enough cash. Since then, I've been buying again, bought back much of what I sold plus some.

I've been snatching up most the PSA graded ebay auctions, including the Titcomb and Fennelley last night.

Some of the comments on this thread do not belong in the BST section.

Thanks.

Default agree with Dan

Unless you are buying a card from the original poster, or offering him one for sale, then there really shouldn't be any other comments. That is a rule we have made and I hope everyone follows it. It's the same for everyone including Dan, I and the other moderators.......thanks

Leon--Sorry, just a general question, certainly not pertaining to Eric. Does that rule hold regardless of the moral turpitude of the seller?

"Moral turpitude is a legal concept in the United States that refers to "conduct that is considered contrary to community standards of justice, honesty or good morals."[1]

**To me the only ones that fit this definition are most folks in this thread except the original poster. The community standard for the BST is to not interfere. If the original poster says he is buying for his collection and sells the same day, it's his choice. Making comments about that, in a BST thread where it is prohibited, is the moral terpitude issue, imo.
