need help dating that classic ted williams photo

does anyone know what year (or approximately what year) the classic close-up photo of ted williams with the bat on his shoulder and the green monster in the background was taken?? u've all seen the photo i'm talking about: its the image used on card #63 in the 1959 fleer ted williams set, as well as the image used on the 1959 fleer wrapper and on card #347 in the 1976 topps set. any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated!!

Isn't that also the image used on card no. 250 in the 1954 Topps set? I would imagine that it was taken in early 1954.
