Default Psa

PSA announced yesterday that their backlog is over one million cards. They are receiving an average of 68,000 cards per week and the backlog is growing.

In Dennis Purdy's article in VCBC , from 1996, he complained about PSA taking 43 days to process a 10-15 day submission.

This is going to get much worse before it gets better.

Wow, that volume is just insane. It makes me wonder about how much time is spent grading each card. If memory serves, in the beginning PSA touted that each card would be graded blind by three different people and then the final grade determined. I question if that is still the case for each card.

My guess is it’s determined by declared value. I highly doubt they’re putting $20 cards in front of 3 sets of eyeballs, if they ever did at all.
