Thank you, gentlemen. It's amazing to me how big a difference going from a 3 to a 4 means in overall eye appeal. I might just have to start working predominantly at that level from now on. And Chuck, you know I love that Cobb. My favorite of his four cards in the set. That is one I plan on adding very soon in the new year.

Ken, I failed to congratulate you earlier on the Magee. That's a beautiful example. My compliments.

Luke, that King is so beautiful.

Rob, love the Foxx!

Grant, congrats on the Griffith pick up. Good choice for your second T206. Are you hooked yet?

kamikidEFFL, good luck on the '38 Goudey set. I look forward to seeing your collection grow.

Great cards, everybody! I enjoy looking at this thread a few times every day.

Default Arrived Today

Just got this in today. BIG thanks to Larry Harris for cutting me a deal on Big Ed. Absolutely incredible looking card, just a bit of residue on the back gave me the opportunity to own this card at a price I could afford. Horribly under graded IMO, who cares about the back? Sorry back collectors, I like the pictures on the front, not the advertising on the back (I may never turn it over ever again!)

Derek,
Your Collins-McCarthy pickup is a "to die" for card to this Sam Rice card collector! My raw example of this card would grade "poor," at best (it looks rather like your Boston Store card of Rice). Congratulations!!

Picked up these two T206 Cubbies that I still needed for my T206 Cubs master set from SSA. I love that the Rube Kroh with the SC 350 30 back also has a Toy Town stamp.

Nice pickups, Nate...but what the heck is the significance of a toy town stamp?

Here is a thread that talks about it a little. I don't think it's anything too significant, but it is well known enough for SGC to put it on the slip. I don't believe the stamps are at all factory related. From what I remember, the stamp is usually found on E cards.

A big thanks to board member Seiklis for working out a deal for these...a big help in my quest to put together a NY American T-card set.

Here's a real nice $-In-Shield postcard of White Sox player Jakey Atz. The White Sox players are much tougher to find than the Cubs so I'm real happy to land this one. And it is also the first time I've purchased a postcard from Luxembourg!

From Bagger's Auction that just ended (Dave, thanks for the super-fast shipping!), one for my N172 Washington collection, and one for my Sam Rice collection. BTW, I'm still looking for a 1926 Spalding Champions - Rice card with the advertising back.

Default ID efforts welcome -- 1910 Red Sox in Vermont

ID's are tough on this one, but feel free to weigh in.

The Boston Red Sox played an October 10, 1910 intersquad game at Centennial Field in Vermont. They divided into two teams led by Vermonters Larry Gardner (shown here receiving a silver cup) and Ray Collins. Hall of Famers Tris Speaker and Harry Hooper also played that day. Joe Wood pitched. The Gardners won 4-1. The teams:

Gardners: Larry Gardner, Clyde Engle, Hugh Bradley, Heine Wagner, Charley Hall, Red Kleinow, Joe Wood, Marty McHale, Chris Mahoney.

Collins's: Harry Hooper, Doc Moskiman, Tris Speaker, Duffy Lewis, Bill Carrigan, Billy Purtell, Dutch Lerchen, Bunny Madden, Ray Collins.

Default One more Red Sox

Thanks, Jason. Here's one more Red Sox (this one's a photo, sized a little wider than and not quite as tall as a postcard). Could be April 25 or May 27 or Sept 4, all days Ruth took a win or loss as a pitcher.

Thanks Mike. I was beginning to think I would never win a T213-3.

I have a nice front Meyers catching run going with his T206, T213-2, and the new T213-3.
