November Pickups
2 Attachment(s)
Happy to start this one off with my first Old Judge (delivered yesterday but opened this morning) to start what is hopefully a very eventful month! Loved the eye appeal of this one.

Absolutely spectacular Shore, Ronald. Congrats!
|
Although I already have a nice Walsh port in my collection I couldn't resist this one and had to grab it as well. It has a much more greener tint back drop than my other one which displays more of a bluish tint. Thought that was cool!

Nathan- That's a great looking OJ! Nice way to start.

Tony
You got 2 real nice ones there. The Walsh is one of the best looking T206's(in my op) and those are real nice. |

Hello November!

Boston Sports Club Convention Show Pickups
4 Attachment(s)
Just returned from the Greater Boston Sports Collectors Show at the Shriner's Auditorium show. First time I have attended in about 6 years. Although the overall quality of the show's prewar material was down, there was still a nice selection of T205s and T206s at the show.
I managed to find 2 catchers in the T207 set. Very happy with my 2 pickups! Patrick |

That's an especially nice-looking SGC 50! Kevin |

Nice Novelty Cutlery Collins! If you ever want to part ways with it, you know where to find me!! =)

Patrick- those two T207s are tougher ones to find in the Recruit (common back) series. Congrats.
Jason- nice T210! Glad we seem to be working different series' for a change :-) Picked this blank back E98 from Steve on the BST. Blank back E98s are much scarcer than the blank back E93s and E97s. |

Tony, those Walsh ports are both beautiful.
Jeff, you never cease to inspire with your pickups. Ever since looking at your collection, I've jut fallen in love with postcards and type photos. I need to read up on David Cycleback's writings on photo authentication, but then I'm going to start looking to incorporate some of those pieces into my collection. Ruben, I think that qualifies as a nice one! My all-time favorite Gehrig. I will own it sometime this year, though it won't be that nice. Kudos on a great addition!! November might be a cold month, but this thread is definitely warming up. I will try to temper my enthusiasm, but congrats guys on some great pieces. |

Some trade cards...

Nice Gehrig!
And I love these pickup threads. I only collect certain players I liked back in the day, so I'm not a collector of anything pre war, or even 50's - 60's for that matter. Maybe one day. But for now, love the pics of the pickups :) |

Picked this up from Rob at the Seattle show today. Pinholes + back damage + no creases across the card = my type of card.
And my loupe arrived yesterday; amazing to see an image broken down into dots of colored ink. |

...doesn't come up on E-Bay all that often ; short print run. .....Do any of you Exhibits Card collectors know what those two little dots are on the top edge of Lefty ?...I've seen them on some other Groves but not all of them ....cutting errors ? Please don't say it's yet another variation....this set keeps me broke enough as it is..... |

A good night on eBay, picking up the last 2 Series 8 Pelican cards I needed plus one other Series 8 T210 and a few T213 Coupons including the Leach Rochester and the Quinn Baltimore. The E. de Montreville (not to be confused with the tough Series 8 G. de Montreville) was extremely hard to find.

TBob I'm glad to see you add the De Montreville you needed. That one had some action on it.I picked up this one I have wanted for awhile.
|
I know it is a pre-war board but it is my first and only post-war purchase because it is a iconic card.
So it is my Shriners card show pick up http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=12775 |
Nice card Nelson. Congrats.
