Now, regarding scarcity, the Lafitte is deceptive, because his flips were both "Lafitte" and "La Fitte," So you have to look for both, unless there are really two in the series? I am pretty sure this was just a typo by the graders. The Dunn really does have low numbers graded. I'm not sure how many raw there are out there. I don't remember if I posted the Wagner when I got it a few months ago, but I figured it looked good with the rest, so why not, just in case.

This came last week:

And this one showed up last night:

I'm down to just the Bell to finish up my version of the Brooklyn team set. I'm not going to do the "Out at Third" or the McIntyre "now with Chicago Nat'l" variation.

Awesome card. I know the feeling of paying too much for those you want.

Default Babe and Friends!

Two recent Ruth pick ups, thanks to Rhett for the 6-1, the W575-1 was what I thought was a very bad scan on the Bay and I was right, much more crisp in hand for sure even with its flaws.

Thanks Erick! I used to own a Gehrig like that myself, its one of my favorite cards of his to be honest.

Thanks Pete, you never see that many Big HOF'ers together on an earlier piece which makes it really cool!

My first Sovereign 460 took long enough to get one.

Thanks to Jeff for the Rudolph.

The Goode is pretty good.

I found this Hermansk at a small card show in Iowa. There were very few pre-1950 cards, but I couldn't pass this one up. The seller knew exactly what he had, but he gave me a pretty good deal.

Went to the Raleigh show today and couldn't find a single thing I was looking for. But, sometimes the cards find you instead - in this case, an absolutely beautiful T3 Tinker. Then on the way out, I noticed a group of Helmar stamps that one of the dealers had just bought a few minutes before, including two Cobbs. I picked up one of the Cobbs and the rest of the lot. Also got a chance to meet Jewish-collector who came down for the show, and hung out a bit with Gradedcardman, who almost got to the Helmars first! Good to see you guys.

A few pick-ups in March. The one you can't see is the pick-up of a new scanner, thanks to postings and counsel of the 'stache and Frankbmd. Still trying to calibrate correctly, though.

Well thanks for letting me off easy! Because it was an auction and not a BIN I guess I see it as market price (I'm not a shill bidding worrier). I wonder if the same card with auction house vigorish and steep postage costs might have cost the same (or more). Never the less, it fits perfectly condition-wise into my HOF portrait collection so I have no complaints!

Default Number 287 finallly arrived, and with some good news maybe?

Had "won" this card several weeks ago, but the seller showed single card fronts and a scan with multiple backs in the auction. Even after an email exchange, I "won" and received the wrong card. After a couple more emails, and a return of the one with no stamp, this one arrived today ...

 photo 287 McQuillan Front_zpscfgiykx1.png photo 287 McQuillan Back_zpsxpm2zd9l.png

With it was a post it note, stuck to the sleeve, saying he had found three more Howe-stamped cards in his inventory. I've again contacted him, in hopes we can avoid the whole auction scenario, and just get those three back as a group with the others. Time will tell.

Thanks to everyone on the board who has an eye out for these.

Congrats on another addition Ed!

Here's a few more of my latest additions to my Pittsburgh Collection. The E90-1's came from a board member and the T216's are from the BST Auction:

Great pickups everyone. I really need to get my scanner up and running to show some of my additions. I moved in January and the scanner hasn't been very high on the list of things to do.

Won the last BST Auction lot of 350+ T206s. Nice cards all in all, and very happy. (( Don't worry, Frank, will update MN soon ))

Few that I like:

I used to own a "gray sky" Niles, and have seen other "different" back ground shades, but not these two (actually deeper in color than in scan):

Also, some "fun" ones:

Basic American Beauty -- BUT -- with wide (normal ) borders.

Never owned a "Toy Town" stamp, kind'a cool.

Finally, we've all seen some pretty funky writings on back, but this one takes the cake, imo . Not skinned, you can see original back, just painstakingly "inked" over. Now if I can only figure out if it's a 150, 350, or the very rare 250 series

Fun, fun, Scott
