Nice!... similarly, I had a sweet Star Wars collection as a kid, but they all got thrown out during a move when I was about 9. In a quest to reconnect with my distant childhood past (I was 12 or 13), I found a guy that sold unopened figures at the Santa Cruz flea market. I went back 2-3 times and picked up a couple dozen for btwn $4-$10 each. Still have them and a Jabba the Hut playset stuffed in a box in storage... with my even dorkier ![]() Last edited by itjclarke; 01-15-2013 at 01:29 AM. |

Golf balls from vacation places or courses I have played/visited. Pebble Beach is the latest, however all I did was hit some around on the putting green. My family didn't want me to spend $600 and an entire day there while on vacation
![]() I've been doing that since my early teens. I now probably have 700-800 in total as my dad would tell all his golf buddies I likes logo balls and he would get all of them. I bet when I go back home this weekend he'll have 4 or 5 sitting there for me. The only ones that get displayed are the top 50 that are most meaningful/memorable. I also love trying new craft beers where-ever I go. Bill |

I collect Starting Lineups...so much so, that I started a grading company that grades Starting Lineup figures, much like AFA, but we only grade Starting Lineup figures. We will be launching the company officially in Feb. I have staff who I consult with who worked on the Starting Lineup line, sculpted the figures and painted the original SLU's.
For me, they are like a 3D baseball card and look great displayed in our custom acrylic cases and add value with a high grade. I have every figure produced of some of my favorite players like Michael Jordan and Ken Griffey Jr. to name a few as well as many variants and error figures. I have been hooked on them since 1988 and have been collecting on and off every since. As a kid, I was well known in the community for my room with hundreds of Starting Lineups on display. It also helped that Kenner, the company who produced the figures was in my hometown growing up. Hank from Cincinnati

Glad you got to hit some on the putting green. All my wife let me do was walk around the club (extremely impressive!). In her defense, we were on the 17 mile drive and then headed down along Big Sur. For my money, that is one of the most beautiful spots in the US. Steve

Tibetan painted scrolls (thangkas) vinyl records (especially jazz and all sorts of rock that I like) I have a large collection of Grateful Dead live shows in various formats, mostly DAT JimB A Tibetan thangka painting of the 17 Pandits of Nalanda Monastery Sample page from a 19th century Tibetan manuscript of a famous text known at The 100,000 Songs of Milarepa. My 7 year old daughter and I collect those elongated pressed pennies from places that we visit. We have one collector's album full of them now and are on our second album. She loves turning the crank to squeeze the pennies out.
Other than that, I have my old stamp collection from when I was a kid, but I don't persue them any longer. AndyH .

I'm a semi-retired coin dealer and it's great to see the coins and currency posted. For me, I collect Maude Adams, a turn-of-the-century stage actress. She was America's first Peter Pan and the inspiration for Jane Seymour's time travel movie "Somewhere in Time." But I collect her just because I find her attractive.

Scott - She was a popular actress. They even made a full size solid gold statue of her. Signed cabinets are great. I've seen some sell for hundreds of dollars.
Years ago I attended a book fair where I purchased over 100 turn-of-the-century tobacco actress cards. While thumbing through them, I saw the usual assortment of overweight women in tights or other unusual costumes. Then suddenly this card appeared and I was smitten. |

Historical/Political autographs and memorabilia. Currently own a Napoleon, George III, Trotsky, Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, James Madison, Monroe, Jefferson Davis, and some other autos. Have owned a Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, as well. I'm slowly building a Signers of the Declaration auto collection (currently, I have 5 of the 55..it'll take a while). Also, I just acquired a service testament of Sergeant Major George Wiley of the 1st VA Regiment. He served under Washington at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777 and is an ancestor of mine...I'm proud of that one.

Boy scout patches and neckerchiefs from order of the arrow lodges, camps, and National Jamborees (pre 1970). These can rival baseball cards in terms of collector enthusiasm. Some OA patches are worth more than 30,000.00. I also collect almost anything boy scout related from the first decade of scouting in the US (1910-1920) as well as some camp patches from New England and New York. I am always curious if anyone else collects this, or if anyone has their childhood stash they might be interested in trading or selling.

-Anything Simpsons. I have a complete master collection of Playmates Simpsons line from a few years back. Easily the coolest toys ever. Value is nonexistant except for a handful of figures that are difficult to find.
-Pallisades Muppets line. Nearly a master set but I'm missing one collectors club figure...I can't stand Gonzo and they put out one too many Gonzo figs. So I'm missing that fig and also the ultra rare Kermit and Piggy wedding set. It was a freebie giveaway to the guest at the wedding of one of Palisades VP's and thats the only way you could ever get it. And I'm not forking over $350+ for a figure(was selling at over $900 at one point). Still many of the exclusives were limited to 250-1000 figures and a few of the later items are very difficult to get. So lots of figures or sets that sell currently on ebay in the $50-300 range. Not that I'd ever sell, not to mention that I opened lots of stuff(though not the exclusives or variants). -McFarlane Sportspicks...I love these and probably have 100 or more. ![]() ![]() ![]() Price on these has gone up to where they are now an untenable $15 plus tax at TRU, but fortunately greed is not lost on the dealers at Frank and Sons and so many of them crack case after case looking for that big insert variant score. And they sell off the rest at $8-9 each with no tax. Thrilled to have somewhere local to buy my favorite players as even Dodgers and other hometown teams seem to have no markup. |

Although I have not owned a Bull Terrier [THE Greatest breed ever
![]() ![]() Highlighted by a Derrydale, although most Derrydale collectors put Briggs' book at the lower end of rarity/collectability: btb1.jpg Also a favorite of mine, is the quite politically incorrectly titled Hogarth genetics book. It's filled with many/most "colored" BT pedigrees of the early 1900's. I love pedigrees and color coat genetics, and this has it all. Although his main color genetic conclusion is incorrect: Red x Black = Brindle. Actually what was seen as Black were Blacks carrying Brindle underneath. The when crossed with a Red, the Black was removed to reveal the Brindle (that's very elementary explanation, it gets very complicated). btb2.jpg Funny (sad) thing is the values of these books have dropped significantly from when I bought them. In the "old" days you had to hunt old book stores or go to dog shows to pick them up. Today with ebay, amazon, and abe, the are more readily available. |
