All -
I am very proud to own a few Kreindlers, and not shy about sharing, either. When I pull these paintings from the shipped boxes, I don't give much thought initially to the frame/not to frame question. My preference, instead, is to hang 'em up somewhere where I know I will see them with some regularity, and then, with the Mrs.'s permission and much due diligence, frame those I decide to frame. I really don't put much thought into it. Hanging "naked" on the canvas, as they are, suits me just fine. A silver/gold mat/frame on the Mathewson I think helps accentuate those same tones in the jersey. But again, it would look just as good "naked". Oh, and I never consider anything I post here to be "showing off", but rather, sharing what I own with those that would appreciate it. If you don't appreciate it, then you shouldn't be on this board. Here are some examples: (no idea why some of these are showing up rotated..) Last edited by jacksons; 05-17-2012 at 04:29 PM. |

I'd leave it unframed. IMO unframed draws complete attention to the painting. Pure raw beauty. His stuff rocks! Enjoy. BB

Yeah I'd have to say unframed really pops when its on a solid color wall. I have a store bought print on canvas that was meant to be unframed and it does look great on a flat painted wall.

Many thanks for your thoughts and pictures of your terrific Kreindler trio of paintings- wow! ![]() I must say that I like the way that they look both framed and unframed. I do think that the Matty looks spectacular framed on your cherry wood wall. The unframed paintings look terrific as well. Congrats! |

Those paintings are amazing, and that Johnny V. is incredible. Great to have and great to share, regardless of haters.

Jacksons,
Before, when you only had the Matty, I didn't like you. Now with three I really hate you. ![]() ![]() How big is that Ruth? It looks spectacular! Damn, I wish I had the money for one or two more. I have some great ideas for paintings. Maybe someday soon! Best, Mark

The finish work in the room that these hang is fantastic. You have great taste. The frame on the Mathewson is brilliant. I love it. |

that ruth painting is incredible! kreindler s work really made me realize how easily one can get lost in a painting. its like an episode of "night gallery" where I swear if I look long enough, I see movement.
mark, I hvent given up on hal chase but I found a killer cobb I would want first. I'll send you a pic later as I can't post pics on here from my phone ![]() |

Enjoying this thread and the opinions on framing - have been going back and forth myself on what to do with some paintings, although they are (sadly) not quite as nice as Graig's!
And not that Scott really needs any defending, but add me to the list of folks who think he is a great asset to the forum. I guess this really gets to the heart of what it means to be a collector. If people collected things that no one else wanted, I guess that would make them hoarders (I think sometimes I might be bordering on that anyway!). I know that in my modest collection, it is always more fun to show or share with someone else who appreciates the beauty/scarcity of any new addition. To see Scott's pursuit and enjoyment of his targeted collection brings me joy, not envy. There have been posters on this forum who seemed to take great pleasure in trying to make others feel inferior with their collection - I think it's pretty clear to see that Scott is not one of them. I enjoy reading this thread and i wasn't going to comment, but here's my 2 cents. I am by no means taking sides, but i really enjoy seeing what others have to offer! I see it as a sharing of knowledge, seeing what's out there and what looks good. The more i see and read about the more chances it gives me to explore new avenues to branch out my collection(which is miniscule).
Carry on

Here are the pictures I would want painted if I had the cash (and someday I might!)
This Ty Cobb picture would be perfect cause I would like to have the boy in it substituted for my son and that way i could tell my son that he actually time traveled once! ![]() tycobb boy.jpg One of my all tiem favorite Baseball photos, This would also be a test for Graig to see how he would paint a painting ![]() speaker.jpg 1888 Pittsburgh Alleghenys, man imagine this one painted by Graig! That grandstand would be out of this world! 1888_pittsburg_alleghenys.jpg A KILLER shot of the 1912 Red Sox warming up! 10378v.jpg nuff said bout this one! martini.jpg a great shot of my favorite team the 1908 Cubs. Graig is working on a similar one of the Yanks Cubs1908.jpg always thought this was a cool shot of Chaplin though Id probably stick to Baseball chaplin.jpg |

Sean,
Wow! All of these are awesome images. I think the biggest challenge would be to decide which one to have painted by Graig.... |
