This is the copy that Lipset auctioned in the early 80's. Mastro bought it for $25,011. When Mastro acquired the Piedmont "8", he sold this one to Halper. When Halper sold his collection, MLB bought a portion of the collection (as I recall $8 million worth) and donated it to the HOF. This example was included in that sale. IMO, it is one of the top two examples known (the other one NOT being the "8").

I have gone to cooperstown once a year for every year that i have been married (this year will be #8) and we have always stayed at the cooperstown best western-it really is a beautiful hotel with free breakfast every morning and it's in your price range-it sits just 3 miles outside of cooperstown but gives you a chance to see some of the area which is also really beautiful! the rooms are nice and clean-the hotel was just renovated but in my opinion even before that it was awesome!!!

It really depends on how long you are staying in Cooperstown. You do need reservations well in advance for the summer. I have a summer home near there so I haven't used a hotel in a while except in winter but there is a website
www.cooperstownstay.com that covers hotels, lodges, bed and breakfasts and even rental of private homes. Problem is that with tourism and Dreams Park tournaments, they fill up fast and its hard to find a room for less than a week.
Lots to do there though, in addition to the HOF, there is always a game at Doubleday Field and great fishing and boating on Otsego Lake.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn when I went there six months ago. I'd recommend it, just outside of town, close to plenty of places to eat, great scenery.
