Frank I think if you put Ruth Auto or something like that in the title you will get what you are looking for quicker. Nice find, but I am not qualified to give an opinion on that ball. Sure nice to look at though!!!

FWIW, the ball is correct for the time period, and is a tough item in its own right. Barnard's name would have only appeared on American League balls from 1928 to 1931. (Brandon may be able to narrow that date further based on the stampings).
I'll leave the signatures to others more qualified than myself. |

My family doctor here in Seattle says his family has a Philadelphia wedding program signed by Ty Cobb. As the story goes, the bride was the doctor's aunt, Cobb happened to be at the hotel where the wedding took place and danced a dance with the bride.
I've never seem the item, but he's been my doctor, and a good one, for 15 years and I have no reason to believe he made up the story. He is a genuine story teller and talker-- he has stories and funny recollections for me every time I see him. He's told me about the Cobb autograph several times over the years. that ball is absolutely amazing and in great condition for its age.
How come the postman brought it over? Just to show it off? Was he selling it? |
