nice list... just scanned the list quickly, some of the sets are listed a bit different than what I know them as but close. is this list an old list?? The strange one is why the Yellow R315's are listed as 1927 while the B&W ones are 1930?? Is there something different about them? also the R316 you have one listed as Paper? do you mean the "Made in USA" (Canadian) kind? there are a few other differences too... no biggy though
also just letting you know the 1947 Bond Bread DiMaggio is on the wrong line, it should be on the D305 rounded corner line. The D302 set is the JRoby set. good luck, type collecting is fun and an easy way to learn a bit about every "type" of card made, and something that will never be boring, get stale, or "complete" ......some sets are only known with 1-2 examples known ie 1922 T231 Fan Cigarettes (2 card known), 1959 Esslinger Beer HR Derby (1 card known), 1941 DUnc Kroger Bread (1 card known), and quite a few others ![]() Last edited by fkw; 03-22-2012 at 05:33 AM. |

I decided to make a list... Im sure the base of your list was originally made along time ago, as some of the info reminds me of what was known 30 years ago and things have changed on some sets...
these is just a few that you may want to update.... the set you have listed as 1910s D32 Drakes is really whats known as 1925 D32 Drakes "Film Stars" (Babe Ruth is the only baseball player in set) the set you have listed as 1911 EUnc Base-Ball Bats was made by the Duché-Greaves Licorice Co. the set you have listed as 1910 EUnc Orange Border is now known as 1910 EUnc "Orange Border" made by Geo. Davis Co. I didnt see these cards listed... 1912 EUnc "J=K Candy" J. Koenigsberg Co. (there are 2 types, the smaller cards are B&W while the larger ones have a diecut head and an orange tint to the B&W image) the set you have listed as 1907-10 W555, is really a candy set issued with a product called "Base Ball Snap Shots Candy" and made by Jay S. Meyer, Philadelphia PA. its still called W555 but really should be an E set. I call it 1908 but the book says 1909-10 the set you have listed as 1910s HUnc Herpolsheimer is prob just a 1916 M101-4/5 set... so you have it listed 2 times.. or maybe its the 1921 set that was discovered a few years ago (see below) list is missing the 1921 HUnc Herpolsheimer cards (E121 style) listed under 1910s this set is now known as 1916 FUnc Tango Brand Eggs L. FRANK & COMPANY all of the M101-5 sets are now known to be from 1916, like the M101-4 sets the cards you have listed as 1920 cartoon body is more well know as 1916-20 WUnc "Big Head" strip cards the set you have listed as 1920s WUnc crude drawings is prob the set more well known as 1921 W9316 the set you have listed as 1920s FC59 Honey Boy is now known to be from 1927 and made by the Purity Ice Cream Co. didnt see a listing for the set known as 1923 EUnc Fleer Candy Co. "Bobs & Fruit Hearts" made by the Frank H. Fleer Corporation (they are machine cut W515-1 cards with a printed ad on back, very rare) the set you have listed as 1925 W504 is more well known as 1925 W504 Universal Toy and Novelty Co. and there are 4 teams known Dodgers, Giants, Yankees, and Senators missing the 4 different 1926 W511 Ruth cards, red w/o #, #1 B&W, #55 blue, #71 blue both 1927 W560 sets should be 1929 (proof is Hornsby is listed as "Cubs") didnt see the 1928 W565 set listed the set you have listed as 1930s W553 is more well known to be from 1929 W517 is from 1931, same with the smaller no number type (W517-2) the 1934 R313-A is more well known as 1934 R313-A Gold Medal Foods "Wheaties" St.l NL and Detroit AL, and there is a very rare version of these Wheaties cards that have non StL and Det players, it is listed in the SCD as 1933-34 Wheaties (19 players checklisted but more exist) the one you have as 1930s PCUnc WHIO is more well known as being from 1937 PC786 and is related to the 1937-39 Orcajo Red Postcards, there are 4 types, WHIO (1937), Val Decker Meat, Metropolitan Clothing, and no ad front with Orcajo on back. looks like you have the others correctly listed. the set you have listed as 1934 WUnc Detroit Tigers is now known as 1934 HUnc Annis Furs Detroit Tigers the set you have listed as 1935 WUnc Detroit Tigers is prob the 1935 Detroit Free Press Detroit Tigers set. the R314 group is more well known w/o the letters now ie 1936 R314-1 (the common litho in USA kind), 1935 R314-2 (same as borderless, but w/borders), 1935 R314-3 (borderless), 1937 R314-4 (creamy Canadian, Doerr proves they are from 1937), R314-5 (rarest, group of 39 Montreal and Toronto players, along with 12* *maybe 13 Detroit Tigers) the set you have listed as 1930s DUnc Sawyers Biscuit is more well known as 1938 DUnc Sawyer Biscuit Cubs/White Sox you have each of the 3 1943-45 W732 set listed 2 times each.... with different names... the 3 Grand Studio Milwaukee Brewers sets are listed under W732 .... ie 1943 W732-1, 1944 W732-2, 1945 W732-3, there is only the 3 sets. the set you have listed as 1950 V362 and the set below it as 1950 VUnc Big League Stars are the same set. more well known as 1950 V362 World Wide Gum Big League Stars the 1952 VUnc Laval Dairy should really be 1952 FCUnc Laval Dairy Provincial League |

What resource if any do you use create your list ? The SCD Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards would seem to be a good resource if the goal is to get one card from every ( or most) issue.

I can't help as much with post-wwII, but a pretty good list, minus D351 and D355 (which I still need) and minus a few easy ones I just haven't got yet, can be found (with scans) here...
