Default 1892 Rochester 'in action' albumen

Just got this, and it's already one of my favorites - Sunday, August 2, 1892 game at Seneca Park, Rochester NY, showing a ball hit to third, runners advancing from 1st and 2nd, and the 3rd baseman about to field the ball as the runner approaches.

Also interesting in that the city of Rochester banned baseball (I'm guessing just professional) in 1885, then lifted the ban in 1892. A few years later they banned Sunday games.

6"x10" albumen cabinet had the border trimmed ages ago:

Scott,

****** UNREAL action shot !!!! *****

It never ceases to amazes me, that 100 ++ years later we all can recognize a baseball play (looks like a tough force out at third).

Although I think you have your Rochester "no ball" gap off a few years: According to Baseball Reference, Rochester had no ball between 1881-84.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/mi...=NY&country=US

Those dates sparked a little neuron in my head cavity, since I always thought Rochester has had the longest continuous season streak of any minor league team (1885-present). Second, I believe, is Winston-Salem (1945-present), but could easily be proven wrong.

Thanks, I got the dates from googling - didn't think of checking baseball- reference.com

Default For sale: Gently used harpoon...

Not often I post to this thread lately, but yesterday was a great day for mail.

For starters, a white whale was landed. I have been hunting this card for years...a HUGE thanks to Mike for making it available back in October, and to Trae for safe-keeping it for me.

And not to be overshadowed, a couple more T206 Kelleys for a bit of a back run [which includes a T213-2 and a T215-2]. Thanks for those Trae!

And last, but not least, another Kelley. This time a C46. Thanks Bill!

Regards,

Richard.

Many thanks to Kevin Mize for working with me and putting this beautiful card in my collection. I've no idea why it's graded "only" VG/EX but can't imagine I'd have it if it weren't...

Just received two raw T206's from Mickey Mantlo: Doyle, hands over head, and O'Hara New York. Gorgeous cards at a good price - the cards look even better in-hand than in the scans, and I have been looking for upgrades for both.

Here are a few postcards I've picked up recently.
• The John Mcgraw folding PC is from 1907 (a suit for $18.00!)
• The 1907 Detroit Tigers PC is kind of funny, this is how I read the back: "We are waiting for the brat to leave. The weather is fine here this morning"
• The NY Giants PC is c.1915 (Larry Doyle & Arlie Latham?)

Thought this was a great-looking Foxx, and I had never owned one, so I pulled the trigger earlier this month. Doesn't really fit into anything I'm working on though, so I'm listening to offers.
