Can we stop talking about the damned Pinbacks? I was the under-bidder on the Connie Mack, and really wanted that thing. Good thing for Paul that I stopped at $2,100, as I had my eye on a couple of things closing on Day 2. Otherwise, I would have driven him lots higher!

Seriously- many congrats to Paul and Al on the landmark Pin acquisitions. These pins truly belonged with the hardcore "pin guys" and not just a general collector like me. I'm glad they found their proper homes, and I'll just have to make a harder run in Legendary (part 2).

Regardless, this was a great auction and we can only hope that the memorabilia in REA is equal to it!

Mark,
Never Assume that I won anything in the legendary auction!
Remember the old Odd Couple episode when Felix said "never ASSUME it will make an ASS out of U and Me!

Al:

Not only do I remember that Odd Couple episode... I watched it live, the night it first aired. Felix was at the chalkboard when he said it... a classic! Of course it's since been re-run hundreds of times.

That said... there's a difference between making an ass of one's self and Falling off the Turnip Truck. I'm pretty confident that you didn't let that auction slide by without jumping on something! Too much good stuff in there

Default Position Pins

I was able to get these Position Pins. For some odd reason I just think these pins are awsome. I will add them to the other ones that I have. When I get them framed I will post a picture.

Mark,

Congratulations on adding a piece from your Holy Grail list (and mine). The White Sox pennant is among the best pieces in that niche of the hobby.

Jeff,

Your pennant is a killer as well...thanks for posting your winnings fellas.

Mark & Mike,
Just curious, what year/era did the White Sox pennant originate please?
Thaks!

Scott:

We probably cannot pinpoint a year, but early to mid teens would be a very good guess (based on the style, graphics, and oversized nature of the pennant). This makes it 100 years old, so I guess we should be forgiving of it's minor condition flaws.

I did once see it portrayed as a 1919 White Sox Pennant, but that was either wishful thinking (or more likely an attempt to drive up the price) by the Auction House selling it. In 20+ years of collecting pennants, I have seen only 3 of these. Incredibly, one was NRMT, one was trashed, and then this one (which falls right in the middle).

Thanks Mark! Congrats on some more stellar pickups for your awesome collection.
