Does this mean there is not a third Carew? I have been told by every person I have asked with a factory set that they have the same set of marks. Is there someone with a set on here that can confirm that? The only difference I see is a print dot by the 153 in games played in 1974. I have 2 or 3 with this mark. Thoughts? Thanks.

from ebay:

Matches the Carew in the pack. I guess I'm done with this one.

I have seen quite a few sealed 1979 Kellogg's cards and I had never seen one with a registered trademark next to the team emblem until your scan of the sealed 1979 Carew. I just took for granted that there would be a second printing card similar to the Zahn that I have, looks like I was wrong. Maybe there are only two different Carews and the third one doesn't exist. As far as that print dot theory, there are eight 1979 Kellogg's Rod Carew cards currently on CheckOutMyCards and only one of them has the print dot.

McCovey in pack with both marks. Matches the one on the set sheet.

Default Team Logo Differences

Hi,

The Phillies logo is not the only one that has variations in this set. So far I've seen the Reds, Cubs, Cardinals and Royals logo with easy-to-see variations. Others seem to have slight changes - Twins, Tigers, others?

Default 1979 Kellogg's Dodgers variations

So, of the three Dodgers in the set, Lopes, Monday, and Rau can someone please summarize the variations they are aware of besides the .577 and .625 pitching pct. on the Rau or the 107 and 197 runs variations on the Monday? Which have a copyright variation? Thanks.

By the way, I'm still looking for a clean (not cracked) .577 Rau of anyone has one they want to sell or trade for, thanks.

Default Dodgers that I have Found

For Dodgers I have seen the following. I am still deciding if I should collect the thick, gray cards and the thin, brighter cards separately. Does anyone know the story of how these print runs are so different and which one is the brighter, thinner card stock?

Lopes - Reg. Mark right of scarf and right of team logo.
Rau .577. Reg mark in scarf and not right of team logo.
Rau .625. Reg mark not near Tony and not near team logo.
Monday 107. Reg mark not near Tony and not near team logo.
Monday 107. Reg mark not near Tony and right of team logo.
Monday 197. Reg mark in scarf and not near team logo.

Thanks for that list.

As far as the different card stock thickness, I would surmise that the thinner stock came as a perforated mail in set and the thicker stock was from the packaged material inserted into cereal boxes. Just a guess, I don't know if this particular year even had the mail in option but if they did then it could be like the early 80's topps team leader sheets, they were made from a thinner stock than the regular issued cards.
