T206 Tinker yellow background

I'm the wrong person to ask, since I sit on the side of the fence which is convinced that alot of the color variations we see did not come out of the factory that way. Thus, since you want an opinion, your T206 Tinker "in all probability" did not come out of the factory that way. The color red faded, it is as simple as that. Your Tinker would probably sell in the $60 to $75 range on eBay (perhaps a little bit more, since T206 cards are currently hotter then both Barbara Eden and Raquel Welch), no premium should be added for the missing color.

Thanks all for the helpful information! Although I am certain that this was not caused by glue or paste (as the back is relatively clean and shows no signs whatsoever of having been in a scrapbook). Maybe the red just faded over time. Thanks again!

I realize this is an old thread, but I found this after Googling "Tinker T206 Yellow Background". The consensus here seems to be that the card shown in the original post is faded or otherwise 'not from the factory like that'. It turns out that I have a Tinker T206 portrait with the exact same background... I doubt that two cards faded in exactly the same fashion. Possibly missing red ink, but then the face seems to have red tones... Wondering if anyone else has seen this background variation. Also wondering if anyone can figure out why this card was graded PSA 2...

I always like to see the backs... that Tinker looks "suspect" to me at a glance.

Over the last year or two I have found numerous examples of the yellow Tinker. It's 100% neither faded nor the result of glue. There are approximately 10 floating out there (maybe more).... It's either truly "missing red" or was produced at the end of the production line when the red was running low. Ive had mine for 20 years and purchased it for a minimal amount. Great card!

Great card John. Is it ironic that both of our cards have some sort of crease (or line) on the upper middle-right portion of the card near Tinker's head/hair??
