Never mind Pete... I always found it hilarious how Chris Short's legs perfectly frame the picture of the dog in the "Alpo" ad on that card. To this day, when I think of Chris Short the first thing that comes to my mind is Alpo. (And I don't even have a dog!)

CW and Almostdone-thanks for the '56 Mantle posting. I used to think it was not Mantle. But what it originally was "not a catch". So Topps put the ball in he glove. First time I have heard about the cropping. Makes the 3 guys to the left of Mantle's big hat appear to be oblivious to the action. Nice.

mintacular-yup this turned out to be a nice thread. Still looking for Mays in the background of a 1973(?) Topps taken during batting practice. I love the pictures going up of the original photos that were 1956 backgrounds. Shall I start a new thread? Yes.
