I like this one despite the condition. Great cabinets from everyone else!

Default 2 of my cabinets

Here is a Jake Beckley O J cabinet and a late 1800's cabinet of an unidentified player. Does he look familiar to anyone?

The OJ book lists no Beckley N173 cabinets in private hands, with only 1 known in a museum collection. Is this example a new discovery?

Here's three cabinets of I've been told are : Fred Wood, Sam Wise and John McGeachy. Any opinions or verification of these ?

The man with the bowler hat and walking stick is definitely Sam Wise. I have a cabinet from the same session so labeled by Tim Murnane.

The image from the Farmer Brothers cabinet photo was used as the source photo for the woodcut illustrating Fred Wood's bio published in the New York Clipper on 02-Jan-1886. Based on the photographer's stamp, I believe the photo was most likely taken in 1885, when Wood played for two Hamilton-based teams.

The image from the Arthur & Pailbric cabinet photo was used as the source photo for the woodcut illustrating Jack McGeachey's bio (spelled McGeachy in the paper) published in the Clipper on 13-Sep-1890. It most likely dates from 1886, when he played for the Detroit Wolverines.

Both appear to have been correctly identified.

Gary,

In September 2010 I had a thread about the Beckley cabinet that I have had in my collection for over 20 years. Sorry I'm not sure how to attach that thread but typing in "Beckley cabinet" in the search will pull it up.

In support of SPEC's correct assertion that Sam Wise is depicted on insidethewrapper's cabinet. Face from cabinet below left, Wise in a Boston uniform below right.

This one just arrived recently. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm guessing it's a baseball team (riding in the coach) sponsored by the organization that resides in the background building (you can see 'SBAC' on the coach and also below the awning in the background). For $20, it was nice enough.

Bean Eaters of SBAC
