That foul pole piece is very cool. I need to dig out my 1962 TSNs to see what game that stub if for, Retrosheet doesn't show a game on Aug 17, must have rained that night.

I was at both games,,,
Game 5 NLCS 1999, the Robin Ventura grand slam single game, best game I ever saw in person. And,, the last game at Shea Stadium,, terrible way to end the season and close a ballpark.

Subway Series 2000 - Went to games 1 at Yankee Stadium and Game 5 at Shea.
The subway tokens, which are not used any more, could be worth more than the mint ticket stubs. (colors appear faded but the flash from the plastic holder has distorted the clarity) |

Of all the photos I own, this one is probably my favorite...there is a tenderness that you rarely see in life much less between professional atheletes...

thanks doug, i got the foul pole from a Leland's auction 2 years ago, along with some light pods from the scoreboard...that foul pole section is extremely heavy...that's a bummer if there wasn't a game played on aug 17th...maybe the stub was used for the make-up date?
"Game 5 NLCS 1999, the Robin Ventura grand slam single game, best game I ever saw in person." i was at that game too! amazing game! i have to dig up that stub. Last edited by MVSNYC; 01-12-2012 at 08:06 PM. |

Hi Richard,
OK, I'll play! Some of you may know that I am an advanced Nolan Ryan collector. Here is a look at some of the items in my Ryan Mets era showcase. I love the Mets stuff! ![]() Some of the standout items that you can see are: - A game used Ryan spike from 1971. This originated from long-time Mets fan Paul Hill's personal collection. Hill collected one game used item from every player that he came in contact with. This was his Nolan Ryan Mets piece. - A game used ball from 7/1/69 at ST. Louis. Background info: HOF'ers Steve Carlton and Nolan Ryan (All-time right handed and left handed strikeout pitchers when they retired) face each other for the 1st time. Steve Carlton came out on top in their 1st match up. This ball was given to Steve after the game by a long time trainer and clubhouse man of the ST.Louis Cardinals. This originates from Steve Carlton's personal collection. _ Tickets to Nolan's 1st career strikeout (1st 3 of 5,714 K's), 1st win of 324, last Mets win, only World Series appearance and win - An official NL ball signed by Ryan in his Rookie Season in 1968 -Original 1968 snapshot of a babyfaced Nolan Ryan signing autographs out in front of Shea in 1968. - Many other items. PLMK if you have any questions about anything that you see or if there is an item that you would like me to share with the group. Enjoy! Last edited by Scott Garner; 01-13-2012 at 08:35 AM. |

In 1987 my girlfriend wrote to Rusty that I was a big fan. Not so sure if he sent back many replies. But this is what I received for my 26th birthday, from my girlfriend, from Rusty. (of course I married her.

Here are Zach Wheat Mets Old Timers Day gifts from 1962-1965. The platter is very hard to get a good picture of. Actually the 1964 is the Dedication of Shea Stadium.

As a collector of figural memorabilia, I always love this set of statues of Mr. & Lady Met from the mid/late 60's.

Not nearly as Amazin' as most of the other items shown in this thread, but what do you expect from a YankeeFan?
![]() Press photo from first day of Spring Training, 1962. This is my favorite Mets item in my collection. I have some regrets about selling my 1962 Game 1 stubs and 1969 signed team photo. ![]() ![]() |

Here's my latest acquisition... a check from Casey Stengel to the Mets' ballboy (batboy?), dated September 23, 1962...
![]() 9/23/62 was the final home game of the season, and at the time it was thought to be the last game ever at the Polo Grounds, with the Mets expected to move into Flushing Meadows Stadium the following season. Presumably the check was an end-of-season gratuity, and it's interesting to note that the "Ol' Perfesser" misspelled the young man's name, as seen by the endorsement signature on the back.
